By day I work as a programmer/CEO/one-man-show at a small software development company called Interware Innovations. I also maintain a self-improvement programming blog at coding.jgb146.com. In my spare time, I'm the CEO of an online poker training site: Grinderschool.com

Considering Weighted Ranges Frankly, this is overlooked because it complicates matters. Most analysis sticks too close to the generic. I routinely remove some combinations of hands when performing these types of calculations, as that is the only way to get a real picture of where you are at. You are definitely right to take this into account. |

Poker Rooms Comparison It's kind of a toss-up. In my opinion, policies at Black Chip and Lock are more player-friendly, but the software at Carbon is a bit better. For me, better software doesn't overcome the policies, but for some people it might. |

Site with beatable PLO rake? What specific rake rates are you seeing? It has been a few years since I took a detailed look at micro stakes PLO, but I have recent students who have moved from the $5 buyin games to the $50 buyin games showing a significant net profit at each level. Usually rake is a simple fraction of the pot, and frankly most sites I have seen host tons of players who are bad enough to let a good player do significantly better than the rake rates. |

Do two or more players colluding against honest players gain on average more money, or not? It would be awesome for answers to this to also factor in the risk of players getting caught and losing all the funds in their accounts. Sure, the likelihood is low, but there is a huge amount lost if it were to happen! |

Mathematical Derivation of the Chen Formula I will move some of the discussion to meta, but I reopened this question and edited a bit to clarify what hmmmm is looking for. This is exactly the type of question that will interest true poker savants, so we can't be closing them. We need to help make them clear, and ultimately get more questions like this. |

Why is this a poor play? The math doesn't really support this. You aren't going to make two pair anywhere close to often enough for it to be pofitable to call preflop if the only way you profit is by stacking him on boards you both hit. |
