comment The need of calculating EV?
The context might force you to fold, even if a call is CLEARLY +EV. Think of the bubble, for example. Or securing an extra $3000 because there's a super short stack at the table. In these cases, how big the plus or the minus is might be relevant.

According to my odds calculator (pokerenlighter.javafling.org ), you have a 99.7 % chance of winning...

comment Research on the effect of a screen name or avatar in online poker
Never thought about this. For me, the only purpose of name + picture is to rapidly and efficiently identify a player in a big crowd. However, there may be some subconcious effects of this. I may be wrong, but I think there's a high chance some research on this exists. Nice question :)

+1 This is actually pretty good.

comment How can I use a player's decision to check blindly on the flop as a tell?
This is a complicated subject and a good thing you brought it up. Given the mechanics of this, I bet only a very very small percentage of poker players can use this effectively, most likely the top 0.1 %.

comment Finding leaks in your game
I know, I just... couldn't help it. In heads'up situations, UTG and SB are basically the same thing. So shoving with A2s is +EV or -EV ? I just thought the contradiction seemed interesting :) , you can ignore it.

"shoving A2s from UTG is a stupid move, but if you shove it from the SB its +EV". What if you're heads'up ? :))

comment Finding leaks in your game
Actually, there are a lot more complex tools that can analyze your game given the provided hand histories. Based on them, the software will even tell you what strategies to employ to improve your game. What PokerStars or other platfroms tell you is pretty much close to nothing.

Pfff... I think this would require quite a vast answer... It's an important question, though. I would keep it.

comment NL100: Can I Call This River Shove?
"he's got TT. (Maybe 22, 33)" It would be way better to have some arguments for why you think the Villain has a set. Some analysis is required, based on the available information; just picking some hole cards off the top of your head is not good enough.

comment What different types of poker game are there?
Poker.SE is still in beta, so as many questions and answers as possible is always welcome. However, in this particular case, I think this is too much of a beginner's question. Besides, all this information is one Google search away. Or Bing search, if you like corporate crap.

comment In live play, why do poker players wait their turn before looking at their cards?
@Halvard Not really. The live play on TV thing was only an example to show that this tendency is everywhere. Whether you're on TV or not, the reasons to look at your cards up-front or when it's your turn should be the same. But I understand your concern, I will think about how I can edit the question to remove this ambiguity. Thank you.

comment Why can't folded hands compete for sidepots?
No. He either has to call that extra $90 or fold and get nothing. It would've been great if you asked this in the comments.

comment Can I move HUD info on PokerTracker?
While Poker.SE is still in beta and therefore we want as many questions as possible, it would be best if they were actually about poker. Tweaking poker software doesn't really qualify.
