In a past life I was a profitable No Limit Texas Hold'em player on Full Tilt at the NL25 level (that's a dime and a quarter for blinds; the top... of microstakes :)). Between 2008-2010 I played just shy of 300,000 hands.
In 2010-2011 I played live poker for over 600 hours at 1-2 and 2-5 in Foxwoods, Las Vegas, and a few other casinos.
Since then (and since graduating college) I've moved on to another stage of my life, but still enjoy thinking and playing occasionally on weekends, when time permits.

Who has the higher hand: 44 vs. A2 on a JJKK2 board? More descriptive title to avoid 100s of questions of "Who has the higher hand?" |

Site with beatable PLO rake? The number of hands and rake paid are not based only on those 25 people; the above screenshot is probably totalling everyone in your DB for those numbers. If you add the rake paid for the 25 players, it's not equal to the total shown. |

What mnemonic rules are helpful in poker calculations? I've heard a similar rule; the rule of 10&20. If the ration of effective stacks to pot is less than 10x, it's usually a fold; it they are greater than 20x it's usually a call, and anywhere in between you should rely entirely on other factors (bet-size, stack-size, and opponent tendencies) |

How is Poker a game of skill? This alone doesn't prove skill; Phil Hellmuth could still be the luckiest player alive. If you ha a standard deviation, you could "prove" this with a very large confidence interval. |

How do you calculate side-pots when all-in on ante? Wow, it's rare someone beats me to an answer while I'm typing it on poker.stackexchange.com :). Weird timing! |

When to fold AA pre-flop? The problem with this angle on the question is that not being willing to risk your stack should stop you from sitting in the game, not change the way you play it. If you aren't comfortable calling 1 million times the big blind, you shouldn't have 1 million times the big blind in front of you. |

What's the best book to read to understand this site? @LeeGrey I take it back; the best place to understand this site is probably to post questions to this site. If we could bootstrap the site itself with a decent corpus of questions and answers, it may become more useful than it currently is. |
