Here's a little joke that cracks me up:

So, a guy walks up to me and says, "I'm a tepee. I'm a wigwam. I'm a tepee! I'm a wigwam!" I said to him, "Relax, man. You're two tents!"

If your referring to my second comment, that's not exactly what you said. You said they would give action when they had a hand, but not give action when you didn't have a hand. It has little or nothing to do with whether you have a hand. They are looking at their own cards.

"Tight-Weak opponents will play a range that, when you hit your set, will give you lots of action with overpairs, TPTK and strong draw type hands, or just give up very easily vs mild aggression the times when you have air or marginal equity." Not quite right. W/T opponents will give action based on their hand (not yours) and the action they face. If they have a good hand, they will give some action. If they don't, they won't.

"Using PP's solely to flop sets isn't a winning strategy" I disagree. Set mining with low PPs can be a winning, though sub-optimal strategy if done correctly. Open-raising and then playing fit/fold is not the correct way to play them, though.

You've said that you believe you have a card advantage over Villain. If you think you have the best hand preflop and you think he will call a re-raise, then you can re-raise for value preflop. I don't agree with the sentiment that a PFRR is "definitely" better than flatting. There are simply too many variables to make such an assertion.

Its "long ball," not "big ball." Its a term taken from baseball.

@Toby: please don't put words in my mouth. I made no such agreement. On the contrary, I did not take sides in the argument. I can see why people would think you are not contributing votes on your own questions, but I can see the other side too. You have been contributing to this beta by posting questions, and that is probably more valuable at this point than votes. I'm not passing judgement on your contributions.

Many players would check-raise on the turn when they had a Queen "fairly often" because they are expecting the Villain to bet again with an Ace, with a draw, or with air.

It seemed to me that you were advocating a bet.you did say that you " didn't like [betting] at all," but earlier you also said" you have only one option and its betting."

Maybe I misunderstood your point, then. :) You're welcome regardless.

"The only way to win is by betting" is not a (valid) reason to bet.
