Don't forget about spread-limit games. There are also games with/without blinds, lead-in bets, antes, etc....

comment Why can't folded hands compete for sidepots?
If I had to guess, I would say that one of the reasons that this rule came about was to simplify awarding the pots. This way you don't have to keep track of who folded when in order to determine who wins which side pot. This would be an especially big problem with multiple side pots and people folding at different times.

comment AKo all in v 57o?
@hmmmm: Yes, but even JQ is an under-dog in this situation and the pot-odds don't quite make up for it. That was the point of this answer, that even in the "best case" you don't have the correct odds, and in the "worst case" (pairs) you are crushed.

@TobyBooth: Yes, that is what I was said in this answer (it is why I said that you should get all of your chips in pre-flop with Aces)! :-)

"... but you should absolutely slow down and reevaluate postflop" ... I would add "if you make it to that point." In this case, he stated that he is "being forced" to go all-in preflop and is questioning whether or not that is a good strategy in a play money game because he is constantly getting sucked out.
