comment 1/2 NL: Call this villain's all-in with top pair, ace kicker?
It's allright... he won a small amount of money for his online bankroll :) Judging by how he played this hand, he likely plays NL10 or NL25 online.

I am glad I could help you. Definitely, you should change "syndrome" to "play". It's closer to the truth. And if you find my answer useful, I won't mind if you accept it :D

comment The groups of Sklansky starting hands
May I suggest that, instead of studying Sklansky's starting hands, one should understand the principles on how the open raising ranges are built? Just my 2c.

comment Systematic all-in
Poker is a zero-sum game so, in the long run, he might not reach the point where he burns his 10k BBs, because he-s mega-deep stacked.

As far as I know, short stack strategy does not have bluffs and semibluffs in its arsenal.

comment Is it advantageous to buy into a NL cash game at the maximum amount?
You cannot buy for minimum and have your opponents with even shorter stacks unless they lost and decided not to top off. But it's highly unlikely to have this scenario (a short stack and 8-9 ppl with lower stacks).

No. I said "high cards", not "high combinations". As I said in that answer, playing short stacked forces you to win now, which means that you'll mostly show down high pairs/cards. It's more likely to see KK vs QQ than KK vs 66 which hoped to flop a set and missed. If you have more money behind, you can call with 66, hoping to flop a set and stack your opponent. If this happens, you'll see KK vs 66, but with a 6 on the flop. Here, low cards beat high cards.

And you want to know why short stack strategy works? Simple: because high cards beat low cards.
