Could you provide some depth to the answer. Perhaps examples, some descriptive calculations. Thanks.

This is too short, so here is my quick "answer". Try explaining to yourself, simply but no simpler than is necessary. Write it down, keep honing and refining it. Put a few attempts up on the "chat" area, and maybe we can help. I'd be pleased to.

As ever, showdown evidence of a hand will say a lot about his thinking. Did you ever get that far?

What would you define as a "significant" overbet?

Against the full range you state, I have 93.20% eq. Against the villains "nut-range" derived from his full range you state, I have 69.44% eq. That's assuming he plays all hands this way, which is unlikely. Also, I did screw the calc up, doh! But, 370.80/204.80=1.81-to-1. In percentage terms, thats 1/(1.81+1)=36%. I still can't see how you got 41.64%?! I very much like to see the calculation, thanks.

Do you have any sources for that information? What about additional info, like finishing positions related to playing tendencies?

First, equity is probably the wrong term as it's the river. I'm either winning or losing, no in between. Thus it comes down to number of winning combos vs losing combos. Also, how are you getting that number?! 41.64%? Edit the answer if the calc is too long for a comment :)

So you believe villain is sometimes shoving 2.5 buyins with as little as Third Pair-No kicker?! Or even 22?! I'm forced to call 204.80bb to win 370.80bb (1.81:1) thus I need a 36% chance of winning to breakeven. If he shoves 2 pair even slightly less, it's much closer to -EV. I really don't think it's simple, at all. [edited incorrect percentage, 2013.08.24]
